How Can We Cope With Stress

Stress is a huge problem today and can result in serious illnesses if not managed properly. How can you cope with stress?

One of the most important steps to take when trying to deal with stress is identifying the cause of your stress. Stress exists when certain problems, wether physical or psychological, keep the body on alert all the time. Often times just identifying the source of the stress can make the stress disappear.

The rest of the article will focus on how to cope with stresses that you may face in life.

Adapt To It

Many people try earnestly to get away from what produces the stresses in life. They may end up moving away to try to escape the stressing conditions, such as working in a busy, noisy city.

While that may help to reduce your stress levels, it is not always the most effective or needed thing to do. For example if you get really stressed sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, leaving a little earlier or later might help to reduce the stress of being stuck in traffic. By adapting to the this it will help you gain confidence that you are in control of your life, which is an important thing to help cope with stress.

Raising children can often be very stressful for parents, especially when the children are out of control. What may be needed to decrease the stress from this source is to establish firm and consistent guidelines for the children to live by. After adapting guidelines for children many parents often feel a huge sigh of relief.

What if noise is causing you too much stress in your life? If you are at your house you could close a door to reduce the noise coming from the other rooms in the house. If the source is external, perhaps closing the window and drapes will help to dampen the noise. Ear plugs can also be an effective form to drown out the noise. Make sure your surroundings are pleasant by making sure the area you are in is neat and clean, this often helps in relieving stressas well.

While this may help to reduce the stress you are facing it will not likely eliminate the stress all together. But even if it helps just a tad, you will be better off.

Talk It Out

Bottling up your stress inside is not healthy for you. Think of how much more relieved you will feel if you get it off your chest by confiding in a friend who you love and trust. Your friend may be able to give you helpful advise. It is only natural for us to reflect our problems inward, but you wont be any less of a person if you discuss your troubles with a trusted friend. You may be able to benefit from the practical suggestions of a friend as well as bring yourself emotional relief.

Exercise Regularly

Regular physical exercise can be beneficial to help you burn all the extra sugars and fat in the bloodstream caused by stress. This will help counteract the effects of stress and help to restore your body to a balances state.

If you don’t particularly like exercising try finding something you are interested, perhaps a sport. If you don’t like sports exercise anyway! If you do this you will feel better, especially if you make it a daily routine.

Rather than taking the car to do your errands, if the place is close enough try taking a brisk walk. This might help you to “burn off stress.”

Finding Balance

It is proper to find balance between work and recreation. While both have their place, too much of one or the other can cause stress in your life, so therefore it is very important to find a balance between these too.

Many of us hate it, especially getting up in the morning. But work is not an evil plague out to get us. It is beneficial to be active and productive, and it helps that the fact earning a living allows us to place.

When you are working be sure to regularly take a few moments to relieve the stress of work. Perhaps getting up and stretching or walking around the office, if permitted, can help relieve the tense feelings in your muscles, which will reduce the buildup of stress.

Make sure that your life is not dominated by work. Many people do this and are very stressed out because of the place their job has taken in their life. Make sure you make time for relaxation as well. Perhaps you have a hobby that you enjoy that will divert your thinking away from your stresses.

Sleep Is Vital

Many people today stay up really late, perhaps enjoying a cup of coffee with a friend, or watching late night TV that they say helps them to unwind. But whatever claimed relaxation they are getting from that outweighs the deep sleep that they need to really help unwind. Sleep deficiency is a stress on the body and mind and makes stresses in life even more difficult to cope with.

Sleep allows your body to repair itself. So if you are a stress victim try getting more sleep, and try going to sleep at the same time and form a habit out of it.

Changing Your Viewpoint

Often time our mental attitude is enough to make us stressed out. How do you view life and the problems that you are facing? If you are always so negative about things, it is only natural to assume that you will feel negative.

Learn to evaluate the your life’s priorities. Perhaps you have a new social gathering to go to, or are having a baby. Whatever it may be take the time out to think about how you are going to cope with the stresses involved, and how important they really are to your life. An evaluation such as this will help you realize your priorities and the limitations you should live by which in turn will help you be a much happier person.

Stress today is unavoidable no matter how we live or how happy we are. There are just so many things that can cause stress. So you much learn to accept it, and cope with it when it does arise.

Stress Management Is A Learned Technique

Here I will begin with something that happened many many years ago. It was when I attended my college in 1994 in Princeton.

When I saw him for the first time in the Class Room, I was a bit surprised. How could this sort of a human being who is typical of his Eastern reigns, be our “Stress Management” Professor? His stiff face seemed incapable of generating any smile! Lines appeared on his forehead, even before he was making efforts to start his career in our College with his first lecture on “Stress Management.” I was a bit anxious and eager to enjoy his maiden performance!

I thought he would start with a big platitude on the subject of stress and how to manage it and all that! By quoting definitions and mentioning the names of famous psychologists.

He didn’t do that.

It was very interesting how he propagated the subject of stress management for 21 century youth. I am reproducing his one-shot lecture on stress management. It helped me and it might help you as well.

“First off, I will give you example of my grandma- how she manages the stress! Curry for the night is her worry for the morning…and look, how nicely she carries the burden of stress and its management. She manages stress in her typical style, every day! You go by her words, think that she is stressed! But how crafty she is, in the domestic front!”

Stress management is a technique. It is winning over any tough situation, with the charm of your personality and deft handling of the situation. It is about meeting the challenges. Convert defeat into a victory!

Causes of stress may be many; for its management, no hard and fast rules can be prescribed. You have to deal with the stress, as per the demands of time and situation.

The reasons for stress may be:

1. Danger

2. Threat

3. Good or bad news

4. Illness

5. Perceptible changes in one’s identification with the self

6. Any other strong external or internal stimuli

How to manage the stress?

Before you think about managing the stress, you need to understand the bottom line of your stress. Its root cause! Its real cause! Only then you can think about the management of stress. For public consumption, you can project any cause, but you know what is really wrong with you. There are several ancillary tools to assist you in stress management.

These hints can help you in stress management:

1. Organize yourself in a methodical manner.

2. Develop a confidence, that you possess grit for conflict resolution.

3. Let your approach be positive.

4. Auto-suggestion- Talk to yourself.

5. Do pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation.

6. Do light exercises regularly.

7. Do not over-exert.

8. Keep a diet control. What you eat and how you eat is important!

In the end, what matters in stress management, is your strong will power. Have a will to outgrow the stress, and grow your will!

How to Deal With Stress and Anxiety in Your Everyday Life

Do you find yourself wondering how to deal with stress? You're definitely not alone. We all deal with stress in our everyday lives, and for some of us there is just no avoiding it. The only thing we can do is learn how to minimize it by developing good coping skills. The following are some ways to help reduce your stress levels:
· Practice positive self-talk every day. We all talk to ourselves (sometimes out loud, but usually in our heads). Make sure you turn negative self-talk into positive. Instead of saying "I hate it when this happens.", instead say something like "I know how to deal with this; I've done it before." Practice positive self-statements such as, "It will be OK." or "We all make mistakes."

· Many times things happen during our days that are stressful because of poor communication, too much work and everyday busy schedules. There are many things you can do to learn how to deal with stress in different situations, and sometimes you might need to combine them. Count to a certain number before you speak. Take several deep breaths. Walk away for a little while, and commit to resolving the issue later. Go for a walk. Stop and "smell the flowers." Say "I'm sorry" if you make a mistake. These may seem like little things, but when you do them regularly, they will have a cumulative effect and help you to build a wall of defense against the stress in your life.

· When life gets stressful, do something that you find pleasurable. Read a good book, start a hobby or art project, listen to relaxing music, or watch a favorite movie, for instance. Sometimes distracting yourself from stress rather than dwelling on it can help to minimize its effect on you.
· Practice daily relaxation. Take at least 5-10 minutes every day and perform yoga, tai chi, or slow deep breathing. It's good to practice these relaxation methods at the beginning or end of your day. If you're not sure where to start, consider joining a class or try out several methods to find the one that's a good fit for you.

How to Treat Anxiety

If your stress has severely impacted your life or prevents you from doing things you normally would, then you may need to spend some time learning how to treat anxiety. Anxiety is an uncomfortable feeling of nervousness or even panic that occurs when the stress in your life feels like it's simply too much to handle. Wondering how to treat anxiety effectively? Try these strategies:

· Keep up your normal routine. When you're trying to figure out how to treat anxiety, it can feel overwhelming. You may find yourself staying home more or avoiding normal activities. This is actually the worst thing you can do, even though it may feel so right! Make a commitment to keep up your normal routine and not let the anxiety lead to depression as well. Plus, staying in control of your life can help you reduce anxiety over time rather than letting it spiral out of control.

· Practice mini-meditations. Anxiety has a way of creeping up on us at unexpected or inconvenient times. That's why it's important to practice mini-meditations that you can do anywhere, anytime. Simply closing your eyes for five seconds and taking a deep breathe in and out can have a transformative effect on your nerves. You can also choose a calming mantra to repeat quietly to yourself in order to produce a feeling of calm.
Whether you experience regular daily stress or you suffer from anxiety disorder, you can benefit from using all or some of the coping skills listed above. Practice them several times a day, and they are sure to become life-enhancing habits over time.

5 Effective Self-Help Techniques

There are many self-help methods being used today. These methods are geared towards making you live a happier and more successful life. There is an increasing focus on self-help to curb different areas of life such as illnesses and unproductive lives. Here are five self-help techniques that can change your life.
Technique # 1: Affirmations
These are simple and straightforward positive statements that either declare your current positive status or positive action. Affirmations need to be repeated many times so that they can make an impact on the subconscious mind. As the subconscious mind starts believing that the affirmations are true, it helps you to align your thoughts to your actions. In turn, this starts taking you closer to the life of your dreams.
Daily affirmations include statements like, "I am beautiful", "I will succeed in this mission", "I am unique and special" and "Losing that job will only lead me to a better one".
Technique # 2: Setting Goals
This is an incredible self-help technique. It is hard to plan to succeed without literally having a plan. Therefore, after setting goals, make every effort to achieve them. This will increase your self-esteem and significantly increase your chances of further success.
Technique # 3: Creative Visualizations
This is an amazing tool when it comes to self-help. To do this, just visualize success in whatever you are intending to do. Doing this continuously will help you to start believing it as true. This will significantly increase your chances of this happening.
Technique # 4: Meditation
Meditation is a highly effective self-help technique. This is a method in which a person trains his mind to induce a certain consciousness mode so as to gain an intended benefit. There are many benefits of meditation. Some of them are outlined below:
  • It reduces production of cortisol, the stress hormone
  • It boosts immune system
  • It reduces chronic pain
  • It increases longevity
  • It reduces high blood pressure
The fact that meditation helps you to quiet down your mind is good for both your mind and body. Your subconscious mind constantly tries to communicate to your conscious mind. If you do not pay attention, this message will be communicated through your body. This can be through body pains, diseases, cramps, muscle tension and many other malfunctions of the body. Meditation helps to avoid all this.
Technique # 5: Exercise
Exercising is one thing which most people know of its importance but yet very few people do it. Unless you have a special condition, you do not have to go to a doctor so as to start exercising. The first step that you can do towards exercise is to increase your level of activity. Control any habits that will keep you seated down or depending on machines and become more active.
Increasing your activity level alone is not enough. It is important to create a specific exercise routine and stick to it. In case you need to change your routine, only change for the better. You do not necessarily have to go to the gym. You can choose to go for aerobics, jog, run, take a brisk walk, swim vigorously and regularly, dance or play an active sport. Some of the benefits you will get from exercising include:
  • A better mood
  • Better health
  • Increased energy
  • Having a better physique
  • Keeping weight in check
The first step to self-help is deciding to take control of your life. Stop letting other people control it. Stop assuming that things will somehow be okay in future. Instead, start using these self-help techniques now to ensure a brighter future..

How To Manage Your Holiday Stress?

How To Manage Your Holiday Stress
https://www.facebook.com/MentalHealthTreatment

Are you plagued by holiday stress year after year? Do you feel as if

you are a victim in all of this? Do you believe that you are the ONLY one in your household who is contributing to the success of the holiday?Let me share with you some ideas for making the holidays manageable. I used to literally make myself nuts during holiday time. I was married to a man who thought his contribution to the holiday was simply to show up, eat his fill and then watch television in the living room while I cleaned up the kitchen. I also had two sons who couldn’t care less about the trimmings of the holiday season.

What I am about to suggest may offend your sensibilities but it does stand a good chance of greatly reducing your holiday stress. When you are finished with this article, you’ll have to decide what is most important to you—having everything just perfect or regaining some of your sanity. When all is said and done, you can always continue to do it just as you’ve always done. I’m only providing some alternative suggestions.

What is your typical routine? Of course, for me there was mailing of at least 100 Christmas cards. Often this was the only way I was able to stay in touch with people I cared about.

Then there was the gift buying. I married into a family where I instantly inherited 20 nieces and nephews and the family insisted that all children receive a gift from all the aunts and uncles until they reached the age of 25! No matter what I said, they were not going to be swayed from their position. Christmas shopping, for me, was a chore.

Then, after the gifts were purchased, there were the many hours of gift-wrapping that was required. And what about putting up the Christmas tree and decorating the rest of the house? Let’s not forget the cleaning that had to be done to make my house presentable for the drop-in holiday visitors. There was also the baking of the many multiple varieties of cookies and the preparation of whatever food I was expected to bring to any myriad of places to which we were invited for holiday party after holiday party. Add to that the stress of the inevitable weight gain over the holidays and it was no wonder I was crabby and irritable.

I Have Disgusting Severe Acne, How to Clear It?

I Have Disgusting Severe Acne, How to Clear It?
I Have Disgusting Severe Acne, How to Clear It?

The Question:
I don't know what to do with my skin. I've graduated from high school and now I will go to college. But, my acne seems to persist. I thought my acne is only a problem of teenagers, and I thought it will disappear by itself after some time. But the reality is that it is getting worse now. Honestly, it is disgusting to look at myself in the mirror. I don't want to have this horrible face forever. What can I do to clear my severe acne?
Best Answer:
First of all, you don't need to panic. Panic won't help you to cure your acne. You don't need to overreact toward your condition as well. If you want to know what you should do, then this is what you should do: you have to ponder over your condition and accept yourself as you are. This is the first step.
If you start hating yourself, then you will have a difficulty to look at the problem and solve it. Therefore, the first thing that you need to do is to accept what you are. Then, look at the real cause of your severe acne. Believe it or not, the real cause is you. You've done something wrong toward your body.
Here are some possible causes of your acne:
- Stress
- Bad diet
- Lack of rest
- Sensitive skin
- Allergic reaction
- Digestive problem
So, examine yourself and what you are doing every day that will make your skin to develop your severe acne. Do you have lots of stress in your mind? Do you have bad dietary habit (eating junk foods every day)? Do you have lack of rest every night? Do you have sensitive skin and constantly exposing your skin toward sunlight and bad chemicals? Are you allergic toward something? Do you excrete your bowel regularly?
If you answer these questions honestly, you will find the real cause of your acne. Perhaps, you realize that you're not excreting your bowel regularly. If you do this, then you have to understand the consequence of this action. Not excreting your bowel every day may lead to toxic accumulation inside your body. It means that your body will accumulate toxins within your digestive system and redistribute them again all over your body. Then, finally the toxins will reach your skin and manifest as severe acne.
When you understand what you're doing, you can change the way you do things. You have to stop harming your body and start doing something that will benefit your body, such as eating healthy foods, having regular bowel excretion, having enough rest, having a calm mind, and so on.
I recommend you to use a natural acne therapy called holistic acne cure system if you want to completely cure your severe acne. This natural therapy is the only system (that I know) that will give you permanent result. I've done it myself, and you should too. Depression, Antidepressants Tied to Heart Disease, Diabetes Risk in Older Women

Depression, Antidepressants Tied to Heart Disease, Diabetes Risk in Older Women

Postmenopausal women who use antidepressant medication or suffer from depression might be more likely to have a higher body mass index (BMI), larger waist circumference and inflammation Menopause circumference to diameter.-- all associated with increased risk for diabetes and cardiovascular disease, according to a study led by UMass Medical School investigator Yunsheng Ma, PhD, MD, MPH, and published in the June 13 issue of the American Journal of Public Health.
The UMMS study investigated whether elevated depressive symptoms and antidepressant use are associated with biomarkers for glucose dysregulation and inflammation, BMI and waist circumference. The three main findings indicate that both elevated depressive symptoms and antidepressant use are each significantly associated with higher BMI and waist circumference; elevated depressive symptoms are associated with increased levels of insulin and insulin resistance; and antidepressant use is associated with increased C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, a marker of inflammation, which increases the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
\\\"It may be prudent to monitor post-menopausal women who have elevated depression symptoms or are taking antidepressant medication to prevent diabetes and cardiovascular disease,\\\" said Dr. Ma, associate professor of medicine, who with UMMS colleagues analyzed data from the landmark Women\\\'s Health Initiative (WHI).
Postmenopausal women were recruited into the WHI from 1993 to 1998, and data for this analysis were collected at regular intervals through 2005. Using data from 1,953 women who completed all relevant WHI assessments, the study found that elevated depressive symptoms were found to be significantly associated with increased insulin levels and measures of insulin resistance. Significantly, throughout the entire 7.6 years on average that women were enrolled in the WHI, those who had elevated depressive symptoms or were using antidepressants had higher average BMI and waist circumference than did women not using antidepressants or without depressive symptoms among 71,809 women. However, the associations were stronger for waist circumference.
Analysis of data from 2,242 women showed that both elevated depressive symptoms and antidepressant use was associated with higher CRP levels, a marker of inflammation.
\\\"Identifying these markers in women is important for diabetes prevention because they can be monitored for possible action before progression to full-blown diabetes,\\\" said Ma.
Few studies have examined the association of BMI, waist circumference and biomarkers of glucose dysregulation and inflammation with depression, antidepressant medication use, or both. The UMMS study included a large, racially and ethnically diverse sample of post-menopausal women. Because the analysis was epidemiological, it could not determine a causal relationship, so further study is needed to confirm the results through clinical trials.
\\\"Given that diabetes and cardiovascular disease can be effectively prevented or delayed in high-risk individuals with lifestyle modifications or pharmacological interventions, our findings indicate the prudence of monitoring BMI, waist circumference, along with established biomarkers for diabetes and cardiovascular risk including serum glucose, insulin resistance, and CRP among women with elevated depression symptoms, or who are taking antidepressant medication, to prevent diabetes and cardiovascular disease,\\\" adds Dr. Simin Liu, professor of epidemiology and medicine at Brown University, a WHI investigator and study coauthor. \\\"Further intervention trial is needed to confirm our findings and identify the specific patterns of change associated with diabetic and cardiovascular disease risk markers and individual antidepressants and depression.
